Desserts
A delightful summer classic that celebrates the vibrant flavors of fresh berries. This dessert features a juicy, jammy medley of strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, and raspberries topped with a crisp, buttery, and golden-brown crumble. Perfectly balanced with a hint of cinnamon and vanilla, it is best enjoyed warm with a melting scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Ingredients :
- For the fruit filling:
- 5 cups mixed red berries (strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, raspberries)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 packet vanilla powder
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- For the topping:
- 6 tbsp cold butter
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar (can be increased to 1/2 cup for extra sweetness)
Preparation :
- Wash the berries thoroughly; gently mix them with sugar, vanilla powder, and cinnamon, being careful not to crush the fruit.
- Spread this berry mixture evenly into a suitable baking dish.
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, cold butter, and sugar for the topping.
- Using your fingertips, work the butter into the flour mixture until it reaches a crumbly, breadcrumb-like consistency without over-kneading.
- Sprinkle the crumbly dough mixture evenly over the berries, covering them completely.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for about 30-35 minutes until the topping is lightly golden and crisp.
- Serve the warm dessert, preferably with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side.
