Desserts
Traditionally served cold and garnished with walnuts, it is an healthy and light indulgence for the autumn and winter months.
Ingredients :
- 1 kg pumpkin, peeled and sliced into chunks
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup crushed walnuts (for garnish)
Preparation :
- Place the sliced pumpkin chunks into a wide pot and sprinkle the sugar evenly over the top.
- If time permits, let the pumpkins rest for 3 to 6 hours; this allows them to release their natural juices, ensuring a richer syrup.
- If you are in a hurry, you can place the pot directly on low heat; the pumpkins will begin to release their juices as they warm up.
- Simmer on low heat until the pumpkins are completely tender and have absorbed most of the syrup, then remove from heat and let them cool.
- Once cooled, transfer the dessert to a serving platter and garnish generously with crushed walnuts before serving.
